I visited the AIPAD Fair at the Armory 4 days in a row. Was going for varioius reasons - making contacts of course. Throckmorton Fine Art feartured my signature photograph "A Ride on the 6" - young boys on the el train in a graffiti filled car. They sold it!!! Yay! Anyhow, I am working a a book with my daughter Natalia's poetry and my photos from my last exhibition - "Beautiful People of New York", and was at the fair to meet with some of the book publishers. Wish me luck. Also had a meeting with Mary Engels (Ruth Orkin's daughter) group. It was really a productive weekend. On the last day of the fair my primary objective was to photogrph a lovely woman in front of this amazing photograph, that is the first thing you see when you walk into the building - it's probably 7 feโฆ
I was there Sunday, first time but Iโll be back next year. Maybe we can meet up , itโs an amazing show. Congrats on the sale, good luck with the book.
Western Photo Series
Over the past ten years, I've had the privilege of wandering through some of the most breathtaking landscapes the Western United States has to offer. With each trip, my camera became less of a tool and more of a companign- helping me capture moments that felt bigger than myself. Here are five images I'm most proud of:
Old Shoes
Ironhorn
Last year, I made an effort to do at least two model sessions per month. I have very nice images from every session, but there are a few that I keep coming back to, images that make me think, โI canโt quite believe I made these.โ
Beyond the images themselves, all of these sessions were at least somewhat pre-planned. Thatโs a big departure from my usual way of just photographing whatever is in front of me. This change is a direct result of participating in Robertโs group.
We shot these in the spring at a local park. I expected the setting sun to create interesting light through the trees and give me opportunities for backlit images, and I was right. For the first image I adjusted the cameraโs position to create this easily avoidable ๐ glare. You can almost see the air in this image.
