I like the simplicity of this. Without the description I have no idea what the photograph is of. And I think that is a good thing. A photograph should be able to stand on its own as a photograph, not as a representation of something photographed. Nice!
I enjoy the minimalism of this image. Although the subject is something mundane and functional, its presentation is graphic and artistic. The variation of the horizontal lines works well with the vertical smokestack and the negtative space adds to the balance of the image. Although we know this is a picture of a smokestack, there is somewhat of a mystery with its seeming floatation above the rooftop.
