I see things through the prism and mindset of a photojournalist. But like all of the most of the greatest photojouralists, such as Mary Ellen Mark, Alex Webb, Bruce Davidson, William Albert Allard, and most of all, Cartier-Bresson, I hope they translate into fine art. With that said, I'm not sure that most of my work belongs here, particularly these but they were in my queue for the last few weeks, waiting to get processed. I was visiting this newly re-opened space, that features a ballroom, other event spaces and in the basement a killer pool! I was interested in the pool which I couldn't afford to join. But after viewing it, I went upstairs and noticed people setting up an event. I shot 4 frames, including these two. This fulfills my quest to find connections between photos which I've always made a mandatory ingredient when I exhibit my work. I also think they tell an open ended story which provides the viewer the opportunity to come to their own conclusions...

Of course the photos belong here.
Besides the connection of the two people in each in similar positions I like the color play in the top image matching the warm tones of the framing doors and foreground floor with the dress on the right and then the cold tones of the interior and windows with the blue dress on the left.
I couldn't help but notice the address on the sign in the top photo. Ramsey, NJ. I went to Ramapo College back in the late 70s. I had a great photo professor there, Ed Scully. A crotchety Navy guy. His students said that he never patted anyone on the back for an assignment because he was too tired from kicking them in the ass. I learned a lot from Ed. Unfortunately he passed away shortly after my graduation and I never got to properly thank him for all the bruises from those kicks.
