This one of a few images in my archives, over my many years of photographing musicians, where the subjects are emulating each other, unintentionally. It is another of what I dub as a "Decisive Moment". I shot it during a panel discussion on "Jazz and Democracy", in NYC, moderated by Charlie Rose. This "moment" where trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and ex president, Bill Clinton are caught almost identically posed, perhaps pondering the next answer to a question not asked or amidst being asked or maybe they are just daydreaming about something other than the state of jazz and democracy in 2003. I just know that it's another one of those times that my obssesion with photography and jazz is fulfilled and is as good as it gets!
