What I loved about the first photo is that the woman in the chair has a very similar pose to the one in the painting above the fireplace. You can use the prompt by adding a photo you took with a person in a chair.

Robert, I see what you mean by cropping the bottom third. It will make a stronger photo.

This is a very nice image. You can see the lion's personality in his eyes. B&W works great, as the various highlights and shadows blend well with each other. It reminds me of this photo https://www.mangelsen.com/mammals/brown-bear/eyes-of-the-grizzly-3061.html taken by Tom Mangelsen. The big question is did the lion sign a model release? 🤣

Thank you. I have to be honest. I was/am very confused with the concept of the assignment. I struggled with the confidence in capturing a photo that met the assignment goal. I try to capture an image in my mind before taking the photo. Last week, I was watching an old B&W horror movie and the movie had a ghostly image of a person in the background when the camera was focused on the actor speaking. I thought capturing this vision would be interesting, especially in B&W with Victorian dress and location.

I don't recall all the details from this shot. It was not stacked. I had great lighting on the falls. By going b&w, I was able to enhance the shadows and highlights by selecting each area.

The whites represent snow. The reds and greens represent Christmas colors. The blues/grays/blacks represent the various phases of ice. The browns represent the end of fall and the begining of winter.

Just to the right over my shoulder was a strobe with a 24" beauty dish and to the right of me was a another strobe at 2 steps less of the other strobe. This strobe was at about a 75 degree angle of me and pointed downward to the model. Reading what you said makes sense to capture the mood with the light and not create a portait. I should have left the second strobe off to creat more shadows. Maybe use a grid instead of a beauty dish.

Wonderful colors and lighting. Very relaxing just looking at the photo. Excellent use of slow shutter to get the milky color of the water.
