I used AI (Midjourney) to create a colorized version of the golden age of Hollywood (Old Hollywood Glamour) style using a photo I took and adding AI text to meet my vision.

The sun is a fantastic light, and sometimes, you are in the right place to see a fantastic show at the right time. I was and had my camera at hand to capture the waves and a lighthouse with the sun beaming from a storm that passed by earlier.

The story behind the image starts with scouting areas. I am familiar with this large area called Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. During the summer, the meadow is filled with various green and yellow colors. When a professional model who is also a good friend of mine visited me, I wanted to take a road trip and photograph her at Big Meadows. We discussed wardrobe and felt a white dress would work well with the field. My vision was to capture a lovely lady in a beautiful, open meadow. I made a watercolor painting of this photo too. We were lucky the park had minimal people and did not have to work around others. We did multiple looks and wardrobes while there, and I was able to obtain some great shots. The bottom line is as you travel to places, consider sites for future shoots.

I was inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood Portrait photographer George Hurrell. His use of light gave the starlets he photographed a sense of glamour and beauty. He was known to use shadows and spotlights and was the inventor of the boom light. I used a spotlight with a gobo to create the shadows, I reviewed many of his photographs to achieve a similar look but in my own style.

The story behind this photo was for this assignment. I had traveled to Cheboygan, MI to visit my sister. We along with my girlfriend stopped in Mackinaw City along the shore. I want to take a photo of the bridge with the shoreline. With my girlfriend being along the shoreline I thought of the example images displayed. I thought, hey, I can add her as a 'matter of fact' since the subject was the bridge with Mackinac Island.

In celebration of St. Paddy's Day and the Irish beer Guinness, I was inspired to take a photo of a pint of the Irish nectar with a young lady who is alone in a pub. She has her beer and is enjoying the quietness of the pub.

Single strobe light and complete darkness. I chose B&W because I thought it blended better between darkness and light. The single light highlighted half the face as the hair blocked the other half and as the light faded around the arms to complete darkness the rest of the body.

I am fortunate to have a close friend with a mannequin rental company who also rents wigs. I was able to borrow a wig and a mannequin. I applied the makeup on the mannequin using a silver-based foundation and bronze eye shadow to bring light/life to the face. The dress was provided by a model friend who helped with the makeup too. The music group Evanescence inspired the title and look from their song "Bring Me Life".

The story behind this was that she reminded me of a witch or someone with magical powers casting a spell. As I try to sneak up on her as she is casting her powers over the water, she sees me and turns towards me. I am not knowing if she will harm me or let me be. The expression on her face doesn't provide a definitive answer. I have also experimented with this photo in black and white.
